GUENTHER STEINER
F1 POLECAT EVENT REVIEW:
UNFILTERED: LIVE TOUR
From his degree in teaching the English language, to sharing a cheeky anecdote between Niki Lauda and his dear dog, Guenther talks about it all in his brilliant ‘Unfiltered: Live’ UK Tour.
Throughout the evening Guenther shares his jocular and fun-loving personality that so many fans all across the world have grown to love. At the start of the night I got the opportunity to speak with him along with his ghost writer, author and journalist James Hogg, in a private Q&A Meet and Greet. This lasted approximately 30 minutes and gave fans a chance to speak directly to Guenther and James and ask any questions as well as getting a little goody bag, including a branded tote bag, a VIP pass and a copy of his book: Guenther Steiner Unfiltered -which you can get signed- along with a picture with Guenther. I got the opportunity to ask a few questions and shared a light-hearted conversation with them (which you can watch for yourself here).
WEDNESDAY 28TH MAY 2025
Later on, during the actual show Guenther shared stories taking the audience chronologically through his career in motorsport, starting with a light-hearted conversation with James about his early career with Ford- even showing a particularly dated 1980’s era TV feature with a younger Guenther which James correctly noted appeared somewhat Borat-themed with hindsight. Throughout the show Guenther provided hilarious anecdotes, insightful opinions and on-brand banter about his experiences with cars and people in the world of motorsport.
This would really appeal to petrol heads and Formula 1 fanatics as he speaks a lot on older teams, races and drivers, including his time in rally car with Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz Sr. and his position in Jaguar. Would I recommend this to younger fans? Yes, however i would say to proceed with caution and have knowledge about older drivers and championships as he tends to reference races, people and events from beyond 20 years ago and even going as far back as the ‘80s. The show itself was incredibly entertaining especially as it was apparent how close James and Guenther are, having worked together on two book. Even before Guenther entered the room James was extremely likable and established a comfortable conversation and environment before introducing him and kicking of with a comedic evening.
The show I attended took place on 28th of May 2025, and was a sell-out with all 1,630 seats filled. In terms of demographics, the crowd was mix-gendered and averaged around 25-50ish age wise, obviously with some older petrol heads as well as a sprinkling of teenagers. Worth noting that with the minimum age restriction for tickets at this and future shows is 14 year due to Guenthers ‘colourful’ language ; )
Overall, i had a fab evening. Guenther and James get a 5 star review from F1Polecat (easily!)
